National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification® (NCTRC) is committed to providing an equal testing opportunity for all candidates registered for the NCTRC Certification Exam. NCTRC makes reasonable testing arrangements for candidates with documented professional diagnosed disabilities.
Candidates requesting special testing accommodations based on a diagnosed and documented disability, impairment, or disorder that requires modifications to the usual testing environment must complete the NCTRC Candidate Accommodation Request Form.
NCTRC requests that candidates and their respective qualified professional(s) should consult and agree on what accommodation(s) will best meet the identified testing issue(s).
Candidates are asked to carefully read through the NCTRC Testing Accommodations Request Form, including guidelines and step-by-step instructions, before submitting a request. Candidates are required to read through and sign the authorization portion of the candidate accommodation request form to start the review process.
Please contact the NCTRC office and ask to speak to a Credentialing Specialist if you have any questions.
Refer to the NCTRC Certification Standards for complete details regarding testing accommodations for the NCTRC Certification Exam.
NCTRC works with Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) to deliver the examination for the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist® (CTRS®) credential. The exam is delivered throughout the Pearson VUE network of test centers along with live remote proctoring through OnVUE. As such, candidates authorize NCTRC to share accommodation requests and supporting documentation/records with DRC and Pearson VUE to provide any approved accommodations.
NCTRC testing accommodation requests and supporting documentation/records submitted by candidates are held in strict confidence by NCTRC/DRC/Pearson VUE and will be maintained in a candidate’s account through the MY NCTRC LOGIN portal.
All accommodation requests for the NCTRC Certification Exam will be reviewed and evaluated by NCTRC/DRC/Pearson VUE staff. Upon approval, NCTRC/DRC/Pearson VUE will notify candidates of the arrangements for the requested accommodation(s). Requests that are approved are administered by DRC and Pearson VUE testing services at the selected test site.
